Meet the Affordable Private Education

Martin Luther High School is proud to be part of a community that supports each other emotionally, spiritually, and financially. Tuition prices are determined based on donations and the cost to deliver an excellent educational experience for your student. As a not-for-profit organization, it is our hope that every student who wants to be part of the Spartan Family has the opportunity to do so.

The tuition for the 2025-26 school year is $13,600, and abundant tuition assistance is available to ensure cost is not a barrier. We offer a variety of financial aid options and are committed to working with families to make ML a viable choice. For international students, please contact our Director of World Cultures for the current tuition and boarding rates.

After you explore the tuition assistance options below, please contact us so we can creatively accommodate you and your specific financial situation. It all starts with a conversation!

Donor-Funded Financial Aid

Martin Luther has an amazing group of donors and supporters that give annually to the Spartan Fund. These donors allow families in need to receive financial aid. Currently, students’ financial aid awards roll over for all 4 years to give families confidence in their budget planning. Only new students apply for financial aid.

Martin Luther uses FACTS to determine and award financial aid. Please apply early and give yourself enough time. This entire process can take up to 2-4 weeks.

Scholarships

Eligibility is based on need, merit, or school/church affiliation. Please see the details of each scholarship below.  Scholarships are a great option for donors to invest in the lives of students based on the donor’s specifications.

Private School Choice Programs (WPCP, MPCP, RPCP)

Martin Luther High School participates in the State of Wisconsin tuition assistance programs called Private School Choice Programs. These programs allow families who meet the household income requirements to have their tuition partially or fully funded by the state.   Interested families must complete an online application through the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and verify their current income level and residency.  For more information, see our Choice Program page.

Special Needs Scholarship Program (SNSP)

Students with a current or recent IEP may qualify for significant financial support through SNSP. Students who qualify and receive a seat in this program do not owe tuition.

Paper applications are available each school year from July 1st to June 30th. New and Transfer SNSP applications begin July 1st. Applications must be submitted to Martin Luther’s SNSP administrator. Martin Luther is limited in the number of seats available each year. If your student has an IEP, please reach out right away so we can discuss our SNSP program, the requirements, and the timeline.

Student Emergency Fund

Born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, we now have a fund for families in desperate financial situations. Like financial aid, this is donor-funded financial support. Donors designed this fund to support returning students whose families are experiencing extreme financial circumstances. These are temporary financial awards and do not roll over from year to year. Please contact the Director of Admissions for more information.

Wisconsin Tax Deduction

Beginning with the tax year 2014, the State of Wisconsin introduced legislation (Wis. Stat. § 71.05(6)(b)49) in which private school tuition payments paid on or after January 1, 2014, are eligible for an annual income tax deduction. Qualified taxpayers may potentially claim up to the deduction limit ($10,000 in 2023) for each dependent child in grades Kindergarten through 8th and up to the deduction limit ($10,000 in 2023) for each dependent child in grades 9th through 12th. Tuition claimed must be paid in the tax year in which it is being filed.

For any payments made for the tax year, you will need to access the tax form from Finalsite (formerly called SchoolAdmin). To obtain your tuition payments, log into your Finalsite account and click the billing tab. The tax statement is a link located within the ledger header. If you have any questions, Student Accounts can be reached at 414-261-0280.

For more information on how to claim these expenses, click on the Wisconsin Department of Revenue form: Schedule PS – Private School Tuition. In preparing the form, taxpayers will need our FEIN which is 39-0889672, as well as the amount of tuition paid last year.
